Boone and Maggie Valley

we had a great time with Sean and Donna. folks should come down to see Abingdon and their great Health Food store:

Yesterday we travelled over mountains to Boone to stay at Nancy Clark's house for a couple of nights. what a spot, up on a steep mountain, with fantastic views from her porch. we didn't want to leave, but we could only drive the car up. Hairpin turns and low limbs were too much for our RV "Rover". So for the very first time we had to experience the Walmart blacktop "campground". kind of embarrassing having frequent visits to their restrooms at all hours of the night since it still posed a pipe freezing threat to use ours. (still some snow around) But the good thing is we discovered a broken skylight in our Rv bathroom. Their duct tape came to the rescue!
tomorrow we will see our new home. can't wait. we don't start work until Wednesday though due to the snow!

It's cold in VA!

Greetings all from the not so warm south! This morning it was 25 degrees on the Skyline Drive, with strong winds and lots of snow. Apparently it snowed 6 inches Monday and the locals wonder when it will warm up too.
The first 2 days of the trip were terrific thanks to visits to friends in Ct. and NJ. We ate constantly and loved every minute of it.
Last night we got to Front Royal, VA and could not for the life of us find the Campground we were looking for. The owner even emailed us the address but the GPS could not get us there ( hmmm like how the GPS works in Eaton) . Found a “closed” campground that would take us on…A little Vietnamese man said we could stay but “no water, can’t use bathroom”. Trees down everywhere and the poor man said he was the only one to work on it and the CG opens April 1. Can’t see how that will happen. So washed up at “Mother’s Home Kitchen” in town and ate lots of greasy food but we’re happy!  On to Abingdon tomorrow to see Sean and Donna at their health food store. Maybe we will get back to healthy eating then…

2 weeks to go!

Don and I woke up this am and realized we have only 2 weeks to go! So I started packing once I checked in on the weather in Sylva ( 40's low and up to 70s in daytime usually in April). Then confirmed with Dana at Moonshine our arrival time March 30.
We've emptied one freezer and now will experience creative food for the next 2 weeks so the cupboards will be bare. Tonight is chicken pot pie with leftover cooked chicken and some frozen vegs that are left.
Also bought peppermint oil to put around the house to keep the mice away...now what to do about the moths and ladybugs???
