Yesterday we decided to hike a pretty strenuous trail: the Cataract Gulch Trail in an abandoned town called Sherman, off of the Alpine Loop. I figured we would make it half way to a beautiful waterfall, but ended up doing the whole trail to the Continental Divide Trail for a total of over 10 miles and 2700 ft. Elevation gain. 12,200 ft! We hiked for about 8 hours and boy are we sore today!!! Great accomplishment, I say, for me!
Pretty steep in the beginning , then it opened to a alpine meadows with views of the big peaks...lots of wild flowers and a gorgeous alpine lake.
